Size sterilisers from the theatre schedule
Estimate instrument sets per day from the number of operations, then size chamber volume and cycles. A horizontal steriliser handles bulk loads; a vertical unit is a useful backup and handles smaller departments.
Separate dirty, clean and sterile zones
A one-way flow from washing sink to packing table to steriliser to storage shelf prevents recontamination.

What is the difference between a vertical and a horizontal steam sterilizer?
Vertical sterilizers load from the top, take less floor space and suit clinics and labs. Horizontal sterilizers load from the front, hold more and suit hospital CSSDs.
